Campus competitions, poster entries were held during the seminar

HK College of Pharmacy, Jogeshwari, recenty conducted a two-day seminar where students from all over Maharashtra took part. The event saw gathering of renowned industry professionals, scientists and professors as speakers.

The two-day long event started with brain storming open campus competitions on first day i.e. scientific day named ‘tech-crunch.’ Competitions including model making, innovative product packaging, oral presentation, debate and quiz were organised at the campus.

During the seminar, 44 posters entries from Mumbai and various other places of Maharashtra were selected for presentation. Dr Anubha Khale, Principal, HK College of Pharmacy, initiated the inauguration by talking about innovation and challenges in pharma research. She also emphasised on responsibilities of people in pharma sector to improve health of society as experienced by records of last decades.

Dr RB Smarta, MD, Interlink Marketing Consultancy, Mumbai was the chief guest of the day. He enlightened students about neutraceuticals, scope and its growth in global market, its use to treat diseases like Alzheimer’s (Anoxa), epilepsy (Ketocol).

The day proceeded with the sessions on ‘Phospholipids as Pharmaceutical Excipient’ by Mr. Arun Kedia Scientist, VAV Lifesciences, Mumbai. Dr Nitesh Shah, Head- Formulation and Application services, South Asia, Evonik Industries talked on ‘Hot Melt Extrusion Technology’.

The noon session began with ‘Pharma Solution for Novel Drug Delivery System’ by Seema Trivedi, GM, Technical, Anshul Life sciences, Mumbai. She spoke about modified release systems, like extended and delayed release, matrix dissolution controlled systems and polymers like Any Coat C, Ethyl cellulose.

The last session of the day was ‘Benchtop NMR- A new boon to NMR Spectroscopist’ by Sandip Jagtap, Application & Product Specialist NMR, LabIndia Analytical Instruments, Thane.

The event concluded with prize distribution ceremony to all the winners only after vigorous multi-step evaluation of participants work.
