Manjiri Gharat elected to FIP CPS Executive Committee Member

Manjiri Gharat, Vice-President and Chairperson, Indian Pharmaceutical Association-Community Pharmacy Division (IPA CPD) has been elected as Executive Committee Member of Community Pharmacy Section of International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) for the four year term of 2012-16. The election was held by FIP CPS at recent FIP Centennial Congress 2012 held at Amsterdam, Netherlands in Oct,2012.

During the elections, Gharat was asked to deliver a brief presentation about her professional contribution till date. She won with a high majority of votes against candidates from two other countries. She was nominated by IPA for the said elections.

As an FIP CPS Executive Committee member, Gharat and IPA will be contributing to the community pharmacy development globally. Other Executive members of FIP CPS are Dominique Jordan (Switzerland) as President, Ema Paulino (Portugal), Paul Sinclair (Australia), Eeva Teräsalmi (Finland), Samira Shammas Goussous (Jordan), Karin Graf (Germany), Eugene M Lutz (US), Warren Meek (Canada), Martin Astbury (UK), and Martine Chauvé (France).

She was also an invited speaker at the FIP Congress in different sessions and delivered a talk on Good Pharmacy Practices Scenario in India, DOTS TB Pharmacist Project-a public private partnership project of IPA besides being a panellist at a session on Leadership. Gharat is an academician and is Vice-Principal at Principle K M Kundnani Pharmacy Polytechnic, at the Ulhasnagar campus, Maharashtra.
