DPSR organises conference on recent advances in heart health and research in New Delhi

Professors, scientists, cardiologists and research scholars working in the field of cardiac health attended the conference

DPSR University recently organised an international conference on ‘Recent Advances in Heart Health and Research”. Professors, scientists, cardiologists and research scholars working in the field of cardiac health attended the conference. Speakers include Prof (Dr) Ren Ki Li, Prof (Dr) Pawan Singhal, Prof (Dr) Shridhar Dwivedi, Prof (Dr) Sanjiv Dhingra, and Prof (Dr) Qadar Pasha.

Dwivedi delivered a lecture on “Lifestyle and prevent heart failure”. He spoke on lifestyle diseases (tobacco related cancers, CHDs, and diabetes), and their economic burden. He also explained how heart health could be better with traditional measures viz yoga, pranayam. He also emphasised that b adopting a healthier diet and quitting habits such as alcohol and tobacco consumption, the prevalence of cardiac diseases may reduce.

Li delivered a lecture on novel conductives to prevent cardiac arrythemia. Singhal, Director, Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences delivered a lecture on Cytokines, innate signalling and heart failure and put forth a concept to establish a correlation between various inflammatory markers and cardiac health. Pasha, Research Scientist at CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, gave a presentation on “Gene Polymorphism in Vascular Homeostasis and Hypertension”. He talked about the role of genes in pathogenesis as well as modulation of hypertension.

Dhingra presented his work on the cardiac stem cell therapy. He focused on pharmacological and genetic interventions to study molecular mechanisms responsible for alterations that lead to changes in immune characteristics of stem cells following differentiation.
