Patent Gurukul with Pravin Gandhi College of Law have announced brainstorming session on traditional knowledge and biodiversity. The session will take place in Mumbai on February 15, 2013.

The ‘Guidelines for Processing of Patent Applications Relating to Traditional Knowledge’ (recently published on website of Indian Patent Office) and the implications of the ‘Biodiversity Act & Rules’ will be the subjects for the session. In view of the extreme approach adopted by the government which is highly detrimental to indigenous research, it is proposed to draft recommendations to the government based on views emerging in the brainstorming. The final recommendations are expected to provide impetus to value added research based on sustainable development of indigenous resources with practical benefit-sharing model.

Professionals like Dr DB Anantha Narayana are expected to participate. Experts in the field, researchers, innovators and students are likely to get benefited by this session. The last date for registration is on February 13, 2013.
