To sign an MoU between the US FDA and the Export Inspection Council of India

High-ranking officials of US health regulator US FDA will be travelling to India later this month to meet their senior regulatory counterparts and industry leaders, and to enhance relationship building in the areas of medical products and food exported to the US.

According to a PTI report, the FDA officials travelling to India include Howard Sklamberg, JD, Deputy Commissioner for Global Regulatory Operations and Policy, Michael R Taylor, JD, Deputy Commissioner for Foods and Veterinary Medicine and Cynthia Schnedar, JD, Director, Office of Compliance, US FDA said.

The FDA delegation will be travelling to New Delhi, Goa, Chennai and Mumbai.

Officials will sign an Memorandum of Understanding between the US FDA and the Export Inspection Council of India, signifying the importance of regular engagement and information sharing with India’s Ministry of Commerce, and other organizations under their purview that have oversight of FDA regulated products that are exported to the US, it added.

This visit is scheduled about a year after USFDA Commissioner Margaret A Hamburg travelled to India in February 2014 to further strengthen cooperation between the FDA and its Indian regulatory counterparts.
