USP and Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission to host 13th Science &Standards Symposium

The US Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) will host in association with the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) the 13thScience & Standards Symposium, scheduled for February 26 and 27, 2014, in Hyderabad. Focusing on global standards for biological and chemical medicines, the symposium is intended to promote a science-based dialogue among key stakeholders, with an emphasis on topics that affect pharmaceutical regulators and manufacturers in the region.

General session topics include assessing drug product performance, international collaborative efforts and the extent of the problem with impurities and adulteration. The biological medicines sessions include discussion of reference standards for biosimilars and new horizons in the testing of human vaccines. Sessions in the chemical medicines track include updates on organic and inorganic impurities, along with recent advances in and the USP perspective on extractables and leachables.

The symposium will benefit a range of professionals, like those working in pharmaceutical quality control, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, compendial affairs and production; laboratory managers,analysts and technicians, research associates and project leaders; those working in the biosimilars, vaccines and biotherapeutic industries; manufacturers, exporters and importers of medicines and their ingredients; policy makers, academicians and others interested in compendial affairs.
